Ministry Of Health To Improve Sector With I.C.T The Federal Ministry Of Health says, one of the major challenges it has been grappling with, is the lack of accurate data on disease outbreaks. To reverse this trend, the Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole said the ministry has made plans to deploy information communication technology to improve access to health care delivery. Prof. Adewole and his counterpart in the Ministry of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, disclosed this at a meeting to inaugurate the National e-Health Committee in Abuja. The Minister of Health explained that Nigeria is always lagging in obtaining specific health data, which are essential for determining the statistics of incidences and outbreaks. This in turn would make it more difficult to determine and measure the best remedies for every case. “If we have proper functional and robust data systems, it will show you the specific number of cases we have”, he said. The Ministry of Communicat

Man says he'll never date a feminist and the internet roasts him A certain prince charming by the name of Dave Hon wrote an entire article on why he was unlikely to date a feminist in a column titled Why I'll Never Date A Feminist. His piece went viral and going by the responses it received, feminists aren't keen to jump into bed with him either. See the article and responses below. If you look for a reason to hate men, chances are you’re going to find it. The truth is, I don’t blame women, (especially in my generation) for hating men. They’ve been told there’s a wage gap (I disagree). That there’s a culture of rape on college campuses (I also disagree). And the patriarchy is keeping them oppressed in almost every facet of their lives (I really, really disagree.) Political issues have been creeping into the bedroom. Now, they’re in romance. Because of the hateful culture, men are now demanding "consent texts" on campus before engaging in raunchy, post-party one ni

Herdsman shot in suspected reprisal attack in Enugu A herdsman on Friday sustained bullet wounds in an attack on a Fulani cattle rearers’ settlement in Aku, a community in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State. It was learnt that three other herdsmen are missing in the wake of the attack, which was reportedly carried out by youths of Aku community. It was gathered that the relationship between members of the community and the herdsmen had been tense for a long time due to misgivings on the part of the villagers over the destruction of their crops by cows. It was also learnt that the herdsmen, who are usually armed, have been harassing the villagers. A 17-year-old herdsman, identified as Wareri, sustained three gunshot wounds during the attack. Three other herdsmen, said to be Wareri’s siblings, are said to be missing. Wareri’s father, one Alhaji Sodu, also a herdsman, identified his missing children as Musa, Baba and Muhammed. Sodu said about 100 cows in hi

Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) on Saturday embarked on a mass protest in Kaduna State over the continued detention of their leader, Sheik Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, his wife and other members of the movement. The group, comprising of women, youths and children, gathered at the popular Leventis roundabout in the state capital, demanding for the unconditional release of their leader and other members. Chanting songs and blocking major roads, the Shiites allayed fear that the health condition of Zakzaky is deteriorating due to gunshot wounds he sustained. They vow never to rest until their leader and others are freed. The protest, which has become a regular activity among members of the Islamic group in Kaduna and other states in the north, led to serious traffic gridlock along Ahmadu Bello Way, and other surrounding streets with motorists diverting to other routes. The Shiite members, who were accompanied by the police to avoid any clash and breach of law, also observed their
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Saturday in Abuja said it generated over N95.7 billion in August. The NCS Public Relations Officer, Mr Wale Adeniyi, said in an interview with news men that the revenue had been remitted to the Federal Government coffers. Adeniyi expressed satisfaction that the NCS generated the amount in spite of the current foreign exchange challenge and low imports. “Last month, August, 2016, the service recorded the highest revenue in 10 years despite the forex difficulty, low imports and general economic downturn. “This points to the efficacy of the comptroller-general’s policy thrust. “The strong stance of the comptroller-general on issues of discipline, integrity and strict adherence to customs codes and clearance procedures is yielding positive results,’’ he said. He said that the Comptroller-General, Col. Hammed Ali (rtd), who assumed office in August, 2015, brought a three-point presidential mandate – reform, restructure and revenue rise. Adeniyi said that
Kelechi Iheanacho said it was “a dream come true” after his goal gave Manchester City a 2-1 victory at Manchester United in Saturday’s derby. The 19-year-old Nigerian striker played a hand in both City goals, flicking the ball on for Kevin De Bruyne’s 15th-minute opener and tapping in the second after De Bruyne’s shot had hit the post. “It means a whole lot to me. It’s a dream come true to play in the Manchester derby and score the winning goal,” Iheanacho told Sky Sports. Iheanacho’s 36th-minute strike ensured that City manager Pep Guardiola enjoyed victory over his former nemesis Jose Mourinho in their first encounter since 2013. Iheanacho came into the team in place of Sergio Aguero, who is serving a three-game ban for elbowing West Ham United’s Winston Reid. “Being in the right place at the tight time,” he said of his goal. “I didn’t think the shot would hit the post, but I’m happy it came off me.” Zlatan Ibrahimovic reduced the arrears before half-time by slamming home after City’
