FG To Reintroduce History Into Secondary School Curriculum Nigeria's education minister, Adamu Adamu The Federal Government called for immediate dis-articulation of social studies in the current curriculum of basic schools and reintroduction of history as a subject. Adamu Adamu, Nigeria’s minister of education, said this in Abuja while addressing delegates at the 61st Meeting of the National Council on Education Ministerial Session. He appealed to the council to consider making the study of Christian Religious Knowledge and the study of Islamic Religious Knowledge compulsory for both Christians and Muslims to the end of Senior Secondary School. He added that Nigeria owes both the present and future generations the responsibility of removing all inhibitions against opportunities of acquiring morals and ethics as taught in the religious tr

I Am Going Through Mental Torture Over Illegal Action Of EFCC – Fayose Tells Court Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State Ayo Fayose, the Ekiti state governor, told a high court on Friday, September 30 2016 that he has been subjected to psychological and emotional torture as a result of the freezing of his two Zenith bank accounts in June by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The counsel to Mr. Fayose, Mike Ozekhome, told the court that the freezing of the accounts in the last four months is an abuse of the principle of ex parte order. “This is because as you can see, my client has been unjustly subjected to both psychological and mental torture, as if to say judgment must come before trial,’’ he said. Ozekhome demanded that a sum of N5 billion be paid by the EFCC to the governor as aggravated damages and also for the court to vacate an earlier order of a similar court empowering the EFCC to block Fayose’s account. He also told the court that the EFCC lacked the constitut

Philippines President Compares Himself To Hitler, Promises To Kill 3 Million Drug Addicts When comparing yourself to world leaders or historical figures, there are perhaps less controversial choices than Adolf Hitler. Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday likened himself to the Nazi leader, saying he wants to kill millions of drug addicts, just as Hitler killed Jews during the Holocaust. “Hitler massacred 3 million Jews. Now there is 3 million, what is it, 3 million drug addicts (in the Philippines), there are,” he said in a speech in his hometown of Davao City. “I’d be happy to slaughter them. At least if Germany had Hitler, the Philippines would have (me). You know my victims, I would like (them) to be all criminals, to finish the problem of my country and save the next generation from perdition.” History counts the cost of Hitler’s purges against “undesirables” at 11 million, 6 million of whom were Jews. World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder, in Israel to attend th

Real Madrid 1-1 Eibar Cristiano Ronaldo missed several chances as Real Madrid were frustrated by Eibar at the Bernabeu A disjointed Real Madrid saw their winless streak extend to four games as Eibar held them to a draw at home. The visitors took a shock early lead, Fran Rico taking advantage of sloppy marking to head past Keylor Navas. Gareth Bale equalised with his 50th La Liga goal shortly after, rising to meet Cristiano Ronaldo's lofted delivery. Zinedine Zidane made changes in both attack and defence at the interval but his side continued to spurn numerous chances as Eibar held firm. A win would have restored Real as league leaders but a fourth successive draw in all competitions means they trail Atletico Madrid on goal difference after their city rivals beat Valencia 2-0 away. And Real could fall further behind if Barcelona beat Celta Vigo later on Sunday. Muddled Madrid With Sergio Ramos rested, the flaws in Real's defence were quickly exploited by the visitors as Rico dr

SOLUDO CALLS ON THE IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF KANU Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Charles Soludo, has joined the league of people calling for on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure the immediate release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu. Soludo made this known while speaking on Thursday in Abuja during a book presentation ‘The Politics of Biafra and the Future of Nigeria,’ written by Chudi Offodile. According to Soludo, Kanu was not popular until security agents arrested him last year. He said that Chief Obafemi Awolowo was imprisoned for treason in the 1960s, but this caused him to be loved even more among the Yoruba. The former CBN Governor further noted that Kanu’s prolonged detention would make him a hero or a martyr, which would not stop the current Biafran agitation. He however warned that if Kanu was not released, his detention could be used as a campaign tool in 2019, just as the pardoning of Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu was used by Sheh

Tinubu should get out of APC, Buhari is a dictator — Adebanjo Adebanjo Afenifere leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, speaks with BAYO AKINLOYE on the alleged gang-up against the All Progressives Congress National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and the leadership style of President Muhammadu Buhari What do you make of the rift between the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, and the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu? (Asiwaju Bola) Tinubu allowed himself to be used by people who do not have the interest of the Yoruba at heart. He chose to follow President Muhammadu Buhari sheepishly. I warned that Buhari has not changed. I knew his antecedents. But Tinubu chose to follow him. He and his group blindly supported Buhari. I am not concerned about the All Progressives Congress’ party politics. What is happening in the party is more than a gang-up against Tinubu. My concern is that the undermining of Tinubu’s influence by the party he fought hard to bring to power
