Alex Iwobi set for Arsenal new contract 1 Super Eagles striker, Alex Iwobi will be rewarded with a new contract at English Premier League club, Arsenal. Iwobi is in line for a bumper new contract – just six months after his last deal – following his impressive displays for the Gunners in recent weeks. The 20-year-old signed an agreement worth £25,000-a-week in April but is now in line for a further extension, which underlines him becoming a fixture in the first team this season. Iwobi has impressed the club's top brass and manager Arsene Wenger with his progress, and will be rewarded with a big pay rise and another improved contract if he keeps it up. The young Nigerian striker has been one of Wenger’s best recent success stories and Arsenal want to tie him down for the long term and take him up to a good first-team salary, according to reports in the Mirror. Iwobi has made five league appearances for Arsenal this season.

Kogi governor, assembly tango over council administrators Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State Richard Elesho/ Lokoja The Kogi State Government and the House of Assembly are currently at loggerheads over the suspension of five local government sole administrators by the latter. Mrs. Petra Onyegbule, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Yahaya Bello, revealed in a statement that the governor is yet to be briefed by the Assembly on why it suspended the council administrators. BOKO HARAM: NAF COMMENCES BOMBING OF SAMBISA FOREST The Nigerian Air Force has commenced another round of air interdiction missions codenamed: “OPERATION FOREST STORM,” in the North East. This new phase of offensive air operations, the NAF said on Tuesday, is aimed at further degrading the capabilities of the Boko Haram Terrorists in the Sambisa general area with a view to restrict the freedom of action of the insurgents as well as neutralise any threat posed to movement of own ground forces in continuing with their rescue operations. ECOWAS Court declares Dasuki’s detention illegal, asks FG to pay N15m compensation Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd)ECOWAS Court of Justice has declared the detention of former National Security Adviser, retired Col. Sambo Dasuki, illegal and asked the Federal Government to pay him N15 million damages. Justice Friday Nwoke, who delivered the unanimous judgment by the three-member jury, said the court had granted Dasuki leave to enforce his fundamental human rights as contained in the relevant treaties, which Nigeria signed. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Dasuki had filed a case before the court challenging his arrest and detention since December 2015 by the Nigerian government. Dasuki prayed the ECOWAS court to issue an order compelling the Federal Government or its agents to immediately release him. BREAKING: Former Environment Minister And Husband Kidnapped In Kaduna Immediate past minister of environment, Mrs. Laurentia Laraba Mallam, and her husband, Mr. Pius Mallam, 73, have been kidnapped along Kaduna-Abuja Expressway on Monday, October 3, 2016.
