National Assembly members asked me to buy them houses, cars but I refused- Bauchi state governor alleges Bauchi state governor, Mohammed Abubakar, has accused members of the National Assembly of fighting him because he refused to buy them houses and cars as they demanded. DailyTrust reports that Abubakar made the allegation while speaking at a function to commemorate the 56th Independence day celebration over the weekend. Former Minister of Environment under GEJ, Laurentia Laraba Mlalam and her husband kidnapped in Kaduna Former Minister of Environment under Jonathan's administration, Laurentia Laraba Mallam, has been kidnapped along with her 73 years old husband, Mr Pius at their home in Jere area of Kagarko local government in Kaduna State. According to family sources, they were kidnapped at gunpoint yesterday night Monday October 3rd while traveling along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway. The kidnappers are demanding N10million ransom.

Says "I make no excuses for my actions" Top Kannywood actress Rahama Sadau, who was expelled from the Hausa film industry, is finally speaking out. The Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) expelled Sadau for hugging and cuddling in a romantic musical video by Jos-born musician, ClassiQ. In a statement issued today, the actress said she was only carrying out her role as an actress and takes full responsibility for her actions. See the full statement after the cut... Photos: APC member assasinated in Rivers state An APC member, Boris Neenwi, has been assassinated in Rivers state. According to a friend of the deceased, Theophilus Utchaychukwu, who announced the sad news via Facebook, Neenwi from Yeghe community was shot dead yesterday night in Nonwa alongside three other persons who were with him. Boris Neenwi was a chieftain of the APC, a former councillor of Yeghe community who just finished his law program from Maiduguri a few months ago. This assassination comes two months after a Lawyer to Rivers APC, Ken Atsuete was also assassinate din the state.

Daughter of Saudi Arabia King Salman ‘flees Paris after ordering bodyguards to murder a painter and decorator’ 42 year old Princess Hassa, the daughter of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of Saudi Arabia, has fled Paris, France, after allegedly telling her bodyguard to 'murder a painter and decorator' over the weekend. According to reports, Princess Hassa allegedly told her bodyguard “You have to kill this dog, he doesn’t deserve to live.” The bodyguard who hasn't been named yet to the media was arrested last week in Paris and appeared before a judge on Sunday where he revealed the allegations while the Princess has reportedly pleaded diplomatic immunity against prosecution. According to the bodyguard's statement in court, (Princess Hassa did not appear in court for the hearing), Hassa was infuriated after catching a 53 year old workman taking pictures of her, and so ordered him to attack the man. Breaking: ECOWAS Court Orders FG To Release Sambo Dasuki, Imposes Fine Of N15m On Government The Court of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, has ordered the Nigerian government to release detained former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki. The court declared that Dasuki’s detention, release and further arrest on November 4 after he was granted bail by a court of law, is unlawful and arbitrary. Mr. Dasuki is facing multiple trials for alleged diversion of $2.1 billion meant for the purchase of arms in the immediate past administration. He approached the ECOWAS court after he was rearrested by members of Nigeria’s State Security Service shortly after meeting his bail conditions in November last year. He has remained in the custody of the SSS since his arrest. On Tuesday, a three-member panel led by Justice Friday Nwoke said Nigeria’s government was wrong in arresting Mr. Dasuki without a search warrant, adding that the pattern of arrest negates the provisions of
South African police fire stun grenades as students protest South African police have fired rubber bullets and set off stun grenades to disperse student protesters on a university campus in Johannesburg. The clash occurred Tuesday at the University of the Witwatersrand, which had announced it was re-opening after closing because of sometimes violent demonstrations for free education. Advertisement Adam Habib, the university’s vice-chancellor, had said police and private security guards would be on campus to help “take back our campus” on behalf of staff and students who wanted to return to class. President Jacob Zuma has said the recent protests at some South African universities have caused about $44 million in property damage and threaten to sabotage the country’s system of higher education. The government says it will cover the 2017 fee increases of many students who have limited resources.

Photos: 11 shops razed down by an inferno at Odo Eran shopping complex, Agege There was a fire outbreak at Odo Eran Shopping Complex, Agege, Lagos, on October 3rd. According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), who received a distress call from the scene, preliminary investigation revealed that the fire started from one of the shops within the premises. Chemical items used for manufacturing paint were inappropriately stored and the inferno started when it came in contact with other inflammable items. A total number of 11 shops were razed down by the inferno, while 10 shops were salvaged by the Lagos Fire Service and others. Two adult male sustained injuries and were attended to.
