EFCC UNCOVERS HOW JUDGE GOT N18 MILLION FROM AN OIL FIRM There are indications that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has got a major lead into how one of the judge being investigated obtained N18 million from the Managing Director of a leading oil and gas company to buy a house in London while still serving as a Federal High Court judge. According to the reports published by Vanguard, the EFCC stumbled on the fresh lead while interrogating Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, one of the six judges being probed over alleged corrupt practices. Justice ARita who turned in herself in for questioning last month reportedly admitted that she actually got the said N18 million as a soft loan from a ‘family friend’ who happened to be a major player in the downstream sector of the Nigerian oil industry, with a view to buying a house in the United Kingdom. 11 super cars worth over N3bn belonging to Vice president of Equatorial Guinea seized by Swiss authorities Teodorin Obiang Nguema, the vice president and son of the President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo has seen over N3billion worth of his 11 super cars seized by Prosecutors in Switzerland who are presently investigating him for money laundering. According to Francois Pilet, an investigative journalist with L’Hebdo, he confirmed the seizure of the vehicles, which includes a Porche, Ferrari, Bugatti Veyron and others took place in Geneva on Monday October 31, 2016, where he was accused of plundering his country's oil wealth to buy luxuries, including a private jet and Michael Jackson memorabilia. Report also has it that the Vice President whose assets will also be seized will appear in court next year in France on similar charges.

FG employs 200,000 graduates, place them on N30k monthly salary The Federal government has employed 200,000 graduates into the civil service. Special Assistant to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on media and publicity, Laolu Akande, disclosed this today while speaking at the second presidential economic communication workshop in Abuja. “We have selected 200,000 graduates out of 500,000. This is the first batch. One hundred and fifty thousand will work as teachers while 50, 000 will work as extension workers. Their pay which is 30, 000 per month, will go directly into their account"he said He added that the graduates would work for just two years in the civil service.

Photo: Administrative Secretary of INEC in Ekiti State kidnapped Dr Muslim Omoleke, the Administrative Secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ekiti State was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Thursday, November 3rd. Omoleke was kidnapped at Iwaraja community, near Ilesa in Osun State, along with his son and official driver on his way back to Ekiti state from official visits to Ondo and Osun States. The gunmen drove them into a forest in Ijeshaland and later released his son and driver together with the car. The spokesperson of INEC in Ekiti State, Alhaji Taiwo Gbadegesin, who confirmed the incident said a report has been made to security agencies in Ondo, Osun and Ekiti States, adding that the abductors are yet to make contact with the INEC and the victim’s family. Agumoh of the Federal High Court Port Harcourt, Rivers State on a four- count charge of obtaining money under false pretence to the tune of Twenty-Two Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira (N22,400,000.00). West is alleged to have received the said amount from one Emmanuel Dike at different times in 2013 for payment of a bungalow at D/Line, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. However, the complainant later discovered that the property had been sold to another person while his efforts to recover his money did not succeed. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge when read to him. INEC fix December 10th for Rivers rerun election The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed December 10th for the National Assembly re-run elections in Rivers state. The Senate on Wednesday threatened to suspend plenary should the electoral body fail to conduct the Rivers senatorial, House of Representatives and also State House of Assembly elections on or before December 10th. ‎ The Commission in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs Augusta Ogakwu, states that pending elections in Lagos and FCT have been slated for Saturday December 3rd 2016.
