Police arrest 4 members of dreaded Awawa cult group in Lagos (Photo) The state’s police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, while confirming the arrest of the suspects to Tribune, noted that the Dopemu command had been alerted through a distress call by the residents of the area, who disclosed to the operatives that cult members known as Awawa were terrorising them and passersby around the area. “Today, at about 09:30, the command, through its operatives from Dopemu division received a distress call that some bad boys popularly known as ‘Awawa ‘ were on rampage in Kadiri area in Agege, wielding dangerous weapons. A patrol team was drafted to the area, where four male suspects Sherif, Ismail, Amusa and Abel were arrested with various degrees of injuries, all hiding in a building at No 29, Abeje Street. Photos: Troops neutralize 13 Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State, recover arms and ammunition Troops of 119 Task Force Battalion, 8 Division Nigerian Army, deployed at Kangarwa, Kukawa Local Government Area of Northern Borno State, on Monday, neutralized 13 Boko Haram terrorists in a counter attack carried out by the troops. Unfortunately, 1 soldier paid the supreme price during the encounter, while 3 soldiers were wounded in action. The offensive which began at about 4.00pm and lasted for roughly four hours, necessitated the troops calling for air support to which the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) promptly responded by dispatching an Intelligence Surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft and a Ground Attack Fighter Aircraft in support of the ground offensive. Passengers in an airplane scamper as snake drops out from an overhead locker Passenger aboard a flight in Mexico were left scared after a 3ft snake appeared in an overheard locker in their plane. On sighting the reptile, passengers unbuckled their seat belts and ran in panic causing the plane to be given a priority landing. The snake was trapped with a blanket provided by the fight attendants until the plane was successfully landed. Then animal control workers rushed into the plane and captured the reptile. According to Mr. Medina who shared the photos online: “It was a frightening situation ... but people remained calm because it didn’t get out of that space and nobody became hysterical. Some people got up to see what kind of reptile it was, but nobody got carried away.” The Airline, Aeromexico have released a statement stating that they are investigating how the snake got into the cabin and would take all necessary measures to prevent such incident happening ag ain.

The suspect include 24-year-old Gabriel Ocheme, also known as Embassy, (pictured) who allegedly led the attack and another member of the gang, Okwori Oko, 25. The gang also carted away many arms and ammunition. Police Commissioner, Bashir Makama, who briefed newsmen in Makurdi. while parading the suspects along four other criminals, said the police were on the trail of other members of the gang.
