Team holds last training today, departs for Ndola tomorrow

The Super Eagles will begin their campaign for a ticket to Russia 2018 World Cup away to Zambia in October.

The Super Eagles will have their last training session in Abuja this evening, ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifier group opener game against Chipolopolo of Zambia, billed for Sunday.

According to the team’s Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye, the Eagles’ manager, Gernot Rohr, has been working on strategies to overcome the Zambians because he believes the Southern Africans would be tough to beat in Ndola.

He also disclosed that the Super Eagles delegation would depart for Ndola from Abuja tomorrow with 23 players and 15 officials on a chartered flight.

“All the players invited for the game according to the coach are good enough to confront the Zambians. The Eagles have been having a good time in camp since they arrived for the game and I am sure the team would put smiles on the faces of Nigerians after the tie,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, the NFF yesterday revealed that the Nigerian delegation would arrive in Ndola in time for an evening training session at the Levy Nwanawasa Stadium.

Thenff.com added that apart from the 23 players and 15 team officials, some top officials of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, some members of the National Assembly, few members of the NFF Executive Committee and Management, some NFF staff and some stakeholders, including media representatives, would travel with the team.

“We have allocated slots to some stakeholders because it is a chartered flight and a number of seats are available after the players and team officials have taken their seats.

“The NFF is not paying anybody for being on the trip. We don’t have the money. All the stakeholders on the trip will be there simply to support the team during the game. We have told the persons involved that they will pay for their own board and lodging, and they have accepted to do that,” said NFF Second Vice President, Shehu Dikko.
